On July 1, 2025, IPL merged with Schoeller Allibert to form IPL Schoeller (the ‘company’). The Company’s operations are split across North America (11 manufacturing plants) and Europe (16 manufacturing plants).
The company has its global headquarters in Dublin, Ireland. IPL Schoeller is a leading manufacturer of sustainable rigid packaging solutions across a range of end market segments including returnable transit packaging, consumer and industrial packaging, environmental containers and agricultural packaging. The company employs c.4,100 employees across North America (1,600 employees) and Europe (2,500 employees.)
The role
Due to continued growth, we are strengthening our Legal team and recruiting for three Legal Counsel positions across our key regions: United Kingdom, Continental Europe, and North America. Each role will act as a trusted legal partner to stakeholders within its region while collaborating closely with colleagues across our international business.
Each Legal Counsel will provide broad legal support for our business in the relevant region, and in relation to wider Group matters and projects in other jurisdictions. The role will work closely with the Senior Legal Counsel for the relevant region, the wider legal team, cross-functional teams, and external counsel.
Based at the Group HQ in Dublin, Ireland, each role will involve advising primarily in relation to commercial contracts, corporate governance, dispute resolution and litigation, employment law, data protection, and compliance while helping to ensure alignment with local laws, global legal standards, and Group governance frameworks. The Legal Counsel will also support post-merger integration activities, including legal entity restructuring, policy harmonisation and risk mitigation, by providing timely, practical and business-focused legal advice to help manage legal risk while supporting the Group’s strategic objectives. As a Legal Counsel at IPL Schoeller you will:
Draft, review, and negotiate agreements with customers, suppliers, partners, and other stakeholders.
Support legal risk assessments and advise on mitigation strategies.
Align regional legal policies and procedures with global standards.
Identify and address legal risks arising from cultural, operational, and regulatory differences.
Support compliance with local laws, including data protection, competition, and employment regulations.
Support implementation of global governance frameworks and codes of conduct.
Assist with the legal aspects of internal investigations and compliance reviews.
Contribute to the rollout of legal training and awareness programs.
Collaborate with Commercial, Operations, Procurement, Corporate Development, Finance, Risk, Insurance, IT and Compliance to support business initiatives.
Prepare legal reports and updates for internal stakeholders.
Support Corporate Development and other teams on the legal aspects of M&A and corporate finance activities.
What you will bring to the role:
Lawyer qualified to practise in Ireland, another EU jurisdiction, the UK, or another common law jurisdiction.
Law degree from a recognised institution.
3+ years of PQE, preferably in a multinational corporate and/or law firm environment.
Strong understanding of legal frameworks and some familiarity with cross-border legal issues.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across diverse teams and cultures.
High level of integrity, discretion, and commercial awareness.
Ability to work effectively across cultures, time zones, and legal systems.
