Senior Technical Project Manager – Plastics & Tooling
Location: Lommel, Belgium
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Project Manager to lead the development of innovative plastic packaging products for the food industry. You will manage projects from initial concept through to production, working closely with customers, engineering, tooling, quality, and manufacturing teams.
This role combines project management, product development, and technical expertise in plastics and injection moulding. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, cost-effective, and sustainable packaging solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead new product development projects from concept to production launch.
Manage project timelines, milestones, budgets, and risks.
Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, tooling, quality, and production.
Ensure projects are delivered on time and meet customer requirements.
Product Development
Develop new plastic packaging products such as lids, caps, dispensing systems, and containers.
Improve and optimise existing products.
Select appropriate materials and manufacturing solutions.
Ensure products are functional, cost-effective, and easy to manufacture.
Support sustainability initiatives through material reduction, recyclability, and innovative materials.
Tooling and Manufacturing Support
Work closely with the Tooling Project Manager on mould development.
Provide product specifications, design requirements, and technical guidance.
Participate in design reviews and tooling trials.
Support the transfer of new products into production.
Customer Engagement
Act as the main technical contact for customers.
Translate customer needs into practical technical solutions.
Support product redesigns, improvements, and problem-solving activities.
Build strong relationships with key customers and partners.
Continuous Improvement
Investigate product and process issues and lead corrective actions.
Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, sustainability, and cost performance.
Support product costing, quotations, and investment decisions.
What we're looking for
Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Plastics, Mechanical, or similar).
8+ years of experience in:
Injection moulding
Product development
Technical project management
Experience in food packaging or FMCG manufacturing is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of plastics, polymers, and injection moulding.
Experience with product design and Design for Manufacturing (DfM).
Good understanding of tooling and mould development.
Ability to analyse production and process performance data.
