The Role
The Procurement & Planning Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of the operational supply chain within their relevant sites. In this role, the Manager will be responsible for semi-complex Procurement & Planning management relating to material planning, production planning, purchasing, and overall inventory management. They will drive the development and implementation of supply chain procedures, maintain a fully integrated planning framework, establish supplier relationships, and facilitate planning and purchasing reviews. They will be expected to thrive in a dynamic, fast pace, highly cross functional, collaborative environment.
Supplier Relationship and Risk Management – Responsible for building resilient supply networks through strategic partnerships. Works closely with the Logistics Manager and Operations Manager to understand and mitigate risks within the supply chain, ensuring continuity of operations and supporting company growth, including mergers and acquisitions.
Performance and KPI Management - Defining and monitoring KPIs on a site-specific basis is essential to measure the success of short-, medium-, and long-term plans. Regular progress updates and data-driven insights are communicated across organizational levels to ensure alignment and accountability.
Cost Management and Budget Oversight - Managing the category budget involves monitoring expenses, analysing variances, and implementing corrective actions to ensure cost control and financial target adherence. Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve processes.
Continuous Improvement and Sustainability - Driving continuous improvement is a key focus, with efforts to optimize efficiency through ERP system variables, inventory management.
Compliance and Regulatory Alignment - Ensuring compliance with logistics and transportation laws and regulations is critical to maintaining operational integrity. Ensures all activities meet the necessary legal standards while supporting efficient inter-site transfers and inventory integrity.
Leadership and Communication - Providing leadership to warehouse managers and fostering high-performing teams is integral to delivering continuous improvement and cost reductions. Strong communication across teams facilitates the exchange of information, enabling effective implementation of changes and improvements that add value across the organization
Ensure that site procurement activities take place in-line with the expectations and pricing set within vendor agreements.
Responsible for the management of site Planning and Procurement personnel who schedule the right volumes of materials, goods and products inbound to the business from its supply chain companies using strategies set by Divisional Directors.
Ensure that all functions under supervision operate in accordance with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety of staff and visitors.
Show a deep understanding of the business seasonality and production capacity constraints which drives our safety stock; seek to continuously improve this process.
Actively monitor actuals against plan and adjust the Demand and Supply plans accordingly.
Actively monitor sales forecasts to identify any effect on the supply chain, implementing waste reducing strategies and developing supply chain management procedures
Interpret and analyze complex data and trends and develop recommendations and strategies based on the analysis.
Overall responsibility and accountability for the materials planning determining how much and what type of materials and products to hold where in the supply chain which includes: managing inventory control, warehouse, distribution, and replenishment plans.
Provide leadership to departments under control and manage, coach, and develop direct reports and manage high performing teams that deliver continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions.
Set department objectives and monitor ongoing progress and performance in-line with a cascade of objectives throughout Planning and Purchasing.

Qualifications & Experience
Related bachelor's degree, or master’s degree in a related field preferred and/or prior Operational experience – able to understand operational processes, customer requirements and technical attributes of the product range.
Commercially and financially astute, with clear ability to forecast, manage budgets and costs.
Results orientated with the ability to plan and prioritize multiple projects of self and others and to deliver against objectives and deadlines.
Able to successfully lead and implement change, structure, and process and take a common-sense approach to encouraging continual cultural, technological, and operational transformation.
A manager who can collaborate and work across multiple functional areas.
Comfortable working at a tactical level with some experience of developing strategies, a demonstrated ability to be hands on and remain close to sales and operations.
ERP implementation experience (IFS advantageous but not essential).
Knowledge of lean techniques may be advantageous.
Ability to travel as needed.
