The Role
Our site in Wolverhampton is looking for a Shift Technician to work on continentals, working two days and two nights on a permanent basis.
The Technician will work as part of a team and be responsible for assisting production trained staff in their duties, to ensure the machinery runs as efficiently as possible whilst making quality goods, fit for purpose. Learn new skills to eventually use to perform tasks under limited supervision to the same high standard.
The Technician will work on a four on, four off basis, working two day shifts 0645 – 1900 and two night shifts 1845 – 0700.
As a Shift Technician at IPL Wolverhampton you will:
Apply knowledge gained of setting, processing and running of blow moulding machines progressing through a challenging training plan.
Perform day-to-day general remedial work including repairs of plant, equipment and machinery and replacement of consumable machine parts.
Attend simple breakdowns and conduct remedial action for internal NCRs (non-conformances).
Assist and learn calibration and repair techniques for machines and ancillary equipment.
Escalate electrical and complex breakdowns to the engineering team.
Help maintain the production areas to a high standard.
Ensure all necessary documentation is updated and produced in a timely manner.
Cross train for key production roles such as production support, material handling, warehouse and quality control.
To provide adhoc shift cover, sometimes at short notice, for key roles such as Shift Technicians (material handling, warehouse and QC, if trained).
Ensure that the company production KPI and labour current benchmark is achieved.
Escalate any quality concerns or machine issues to relevant staff, done via raising non-conformances or confidential reporting when necessary.
