Role Purpose
The Site Financial Controller, based in Nurieux, is responsible for ensuring the financial performance, integrity and compliance of plant operations. This role also takes account of all accounting matters relating to Nurieux, for instance compliance etc.
The position serves as a critical finance business partner to operational and country leadership, ensuring the delivery of accurate, transparent, and compliant financial reporting while driving performance, risk management, and value creation.
The individual will be expected to present to European management on a monthly basis outlining the performance on the site, acting as a defacto Chief Financial Officer of the site as we move towards Plant level accountability.
Acting as the primary interface between plant management, local leadership teams, Group Finance, the Shared Service Center, and external stakeholders (including auditors and regulatory bodies), the role ensures alignment across all finance activities and embeds best-in-class financial practices.
Through strong leadership, insight, and governance, the position plays a key role in informing strategic decision-making, enhancing financial transparency, and enabling sustainable business performance and long-term value creation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Controlling & Plant Performance
Serve as the senior finance leader for the plant, with full accountability for financial performance, governance, and strategic decision support
Lead the end-to-end planning cycle, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning, ensuring alignment with business strategy and operational priorities
Provide insightful analysis of monthly and quarterly results, delivering clear narratives on performance, risks, and opportunities versus budget, forecasts, and prior periods
Act as a strategic partner to plant leadership, influencing decisions through robust financial modelling and insights on cost optimisation, margin enhancement, productivity, and capital investments
Drive a culture of performance excellence, financial discipline, and accountability across operations, embedding KPI-driven management and continuous improvement initiatives
Lead the delivery of high-quality financial reporting and executive-level insights to senior leadership, supporting business reviews and strategic decision-making
2. Accounting, Closing & Financial Integrity (France Scope)
Own the integrity and delivery of a robust, timely month-end and year-end close process in partnership with the Shared Service Center, ensuring adherence to group timelines and quality standards
Provide senior-level oversight and challenge on all key accounting judgments, including accruals, provisions, adjustments, and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial statements
Ensure full compliance with IFRS and French GAAP, acting as the key authority on accounting policy application and driving consistency across the organisation
Oversee and interpret P&L and balance sheet performance, identifying underlying drivers, emerging risks, and opportunities, and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented
3. Statutory, Legal & Compliance Responsibilities
Responsible for the legal and reporting aspects of the two French legal entities and their establishments
Coordinate and oversee statutory financial statements, including mapping from group accounts to French statutory formats
Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of statutory and tax declarations (VAT, CVAE, CFE, DAS2, liasse fiscale, etc.)
Support the MD and local leadership with financial insights, compliance topics and ad-hoc analyses
Serve as the single point of contact for accounting and statutory matters in France
Partner closely with other Plant Controllers and Group Finance to ensure alignment and consistency
4. Treasury, Payroll & Cash Management
Manage relationships with local banks and ensure compliance with payment and authorization rules
Collaborate closely with payroll to ensure accurate accounting and reporting of payroll-related items
Act as a key interface between plant operations, Group Finance and the SSC
Qualifications & Experience
University degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics; professional qualification preferred
Minimum 8–10 years of combined experience in controlling and accounting, ideally in a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of cost accounting, plant controlling, IFRS and French GAAP
Solid experience with statutory reporting, audits, tax compliance and authorities
Experience working with Shared Service Centers and ERP systems
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage complexity
Business-oriented mindset with the ability to challenge and influence stakeholders
Fluent in English and French, written and spoken
